The 2026 Spring Fly‑In at the Pioneer Flight Museum will be remembered not just for the aircraft, the cars, and the vendors — but for the resilience and good spirits that carried the day after Kingsbury received 4–5 inches of rain the night before the event.

By sunrise, the museum grounds were bright and beautiful, but the runway told a different story. Standing water made it unsafe for landings, and despite the best hopes of the early‑morning crew, the decision was made to close the runway for the day. Pilots who had planned to fly in were encouraged not to attempt an arrival, and the museum shared updates throughout the morning to keep everyone informed.

Even with the runway closed, the Fly‑In spirit never dimmed.

Visitors arrived by car instead of by air, filling the grounds with families, friends, and longtime supporters who weren’t about to let a little Texas weather spoil the day. The museum opened its hangars, volunteers welcomed guests with their usual warmth, and the vendors including Q’s Place, the Seguin Lion’s Club, and the Sip’n Sisters showed up ready to serve.

The classic car show rolled on as planned, bringing a lineup of beautifully restored vehicles that drew crowds all afternoon. Engines gleamed in the sunlight, stories were shared between owners and visitors, and the atmosphere felt like a celebration of community as much as machinery.

Despite the unexpected challenges, the day became a reminder of what makes the Pioneer Flight Museum special:
the people who show up, rain or shine.

The museum extends heartfelt thanks to:

  • Everyone who came out to support the event
  • The dedicated volunteers who make Fly‑Ins possible
  • The vendors who kept the day lively and delicious
  • And the pilots who stayed safe and supported the decision to keep the runway closed

It may have been a “Fly‑In (Almost),” but it was still a beautiful day filled with history, friendship, and gratitude. And as always — we’ll be ready to welcome the skies again next time.
